Yesterday what did I spy with my little eye? The first chanterelles of the season (around my farm)!!!! Looking forward to harvesting and noshing on these golden gems (cooked of course)!!! ❤️🍄🎉

Back about 7 years ago, one of these major Chinese log producers hounded me (and other farmers/growers). It was relentless. I saw it for what it was and was like, OH HAILLLL NO! 😡 Sadly it seems that some have fallen for this, pulling some shady shiitake, in the name of easy profit? 😢
Hey, if someone wants to undermine their fellow US farmers, fine, but be HONEST while doing so in order for consumers to make decisions on whether or not to support such behavior. Nope, instead they lie and do not openly admit on their social media what they really do. No mention of imported Chinese logs….. Nope, just tons of feel-good buzzwords to draw you in. Blatant lies such as “locally grown”…”made in the USA”….
If truly supporting local is important to you, super sad but true, you gotta do your research.

FYI: Every single block is made on my farm utilizing products purchased locally and/or produced in the USA. My sawdust comes from a multi-generational family-owned and run mill located mere miles down the road from my farm. The ag-waste feed products come from a family-owned and run mill about 1.5 hours away. The grow bags are produced by a company in Texas. ❤️🍄

Look no further than @oakmoss_attic which is tucked inside the back left corner of @littlebohovalley , located at 49 West Salisbury Street in Pittsboro, NC. Ahhhhh, walking into this building, which houses both stores, gives me such joy! Between all of the gorgeous eye candy of unique furnishings (both new and previously loved), decorative items, and herbal elements, AS WELL as experiencing the warm hearts of the incredible owners, you know I love this place. Celebrating the foraged flavors of spring with ramps, truffle, porcini, and sunchokes. Everything brought the flavor but boy oh boy do the ramps and truffles bring the stank!!! 🤣😆😂
